Free Diabetes Screening Camp held for Gudivada Walkers

One of the DSDSC approaches was to focus on diabetes by screening people. On 24th of April 2011, a diabetes screening camp was arranged by Dr. Srikanth's Diabetes Specialities Centre in association with AP NGO’s Association and Walkers Club Gudivada in the NTR Stadium. Sri Lanka Dasari Prasada Rao, Muncipal Chairman Gudivada who presided over the Screening and Awareness camp said that Diabetes can be prevented with the help of recent advancements in modern medicine and with a little life style modification.

An estimate of 125 people was screened by the team DSDSC. “At this camp”; Dr. M. Srikanth chief Diabetologist, DSDSC says” people were given a consultation, in some cases resulting in a diagnosis of either diabetes or a diabetes complication such as neuropathy. For known diabetics it is an opportunity to see the complete Diabetes Health Care Team they need, related to their diabetes in one day. 20 new cases of diabetes were discovered during the day. Persons needing further treatment were referred, preventing undiscovered diabetes or complications to develop further.

Also in attendance that day was APNGO’s Gudivada President Sri.M. Kamalakarnath, Walkers Dist. Governer Sri Ponnuru Rama Krishna, Gudivada Walkers President Sri. D. Govindarajulu, who all participated in the meet and subsequent diabetes testing.
